Osprey, live TV pictures, plus edited highlghts.
Live camera link from Osprey nest since 2006
Osprey's are now breeding in Dumfries and Galloway and between May and September a live video link will transmit pictures fom the nest back to the viewing room in Wigtown County Buildings. At certain times staff are on hand to interpet what you are seeing and answer all your questions about the birds.
Another rare British bird has chosen the same nest site. Underneath the Osprey nest Tree sparrows have to nested once again and from time to time put in a TV appearance.
Both Ospreys are ringed, so their history is know. So rather than me tell you, go and find out about these fasinating birds for yourself. Make a day of it and take a walk around Scotland's only Book Town.
So far in 2006, 3 eggs have been laid and we all wait for the first eggs to hatch. Opening times: Week days, 10.am till 5pm. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to 7.30pm. Saturday 10am till 5pm.
Facililties are accessible for wheelchairs.

During 2010 three young successfully fledged from the site.
During the nesting season there is also a 'live' camera on a nest in Dumfriessshire which is relayed to WWT Caerlaverock near Dumfries. Tel: 01387 770200 for more details.
There is also a nest site near Threave Castle on the River Dee near Castle Douglas. The nest is visible from National Trust for Scotland land at a distance of about 300 metres. Threave Castle is signposted off the A75 just outside Castle Douglas.
