Stewartry Coast Cliffs

The Stewartry has some fantastic cliff top walks for seabirds and other wildlife. Balcary near Auchencairn and Meikle Ross headland near Kirkcudbright are probably the best, although Rockcliffe to Portling is also very good.

There is a  booklet on Birdwatching in Dumfries and Galloway, which is available from any local Toursit Information Centre or by sending an A5 SAE to Dumfries and Galloway Council Ranger Service, c/o  4 Market Street, Castle Douglas. DG7 1BE. This booklet will give you details on how to get there, parking availability, best time of year to visit and what you might expect to see. There are also other sites not listed here. Price £2.50 inc P&P

If however you would like to go on a guided walk with a ranger to one of these sites you may also want to look out for the Free Ranger Led Walks and Countryside Activities booklet. This booklet is also available from the same locations as mentioned above.
